... Natural Interest And Curiosity

 

As a little girl I looked in trash cans (Yes! You read correctly!) to find materials to use, for fun and creative projects.

I’ve come a long way since then (Luckily!) and Today I’ve learned new ways to search for special materials for my designs. But the obsession and curiosity for different materials evolved, hung by and became the essence that today describe me as a designer – Always looking for the differentness in materials and pushing the boundaries. 

As a designer I always think; How can I do this in a NEW way? For me, designing is all about evolving and innovation.

 

Therefore, I’ve always wondered why the fashion industry is so locked on using the same materials over and over again - Why is cotton and polyester still the most used fabric within fashion – so many wonderful materials are invented daily...

Therefore materials are often the factor of inspiration in the start of my design proces - and I often mix them, so a contrast in the texture appears.

 

That said, I also have a love and a passion for the processes behind designing. From the first idea and sketch on paper, to choosing the right materials, colors and lines, and in the end to see the final product passing you in the the street - COMING ALIVE! Isn't that amazing?... That's why I do it!

 

It's my aim to always stay a contemporary fashion designer - and that depends on my natural interest and curiosity for design - evolving and innovation.
